Mr. Abe championed a revival of economic and military strength in a country that began to stagnate in the 1990s. He persistently built up the pacifist nation’s defense capabilities to counter threats from countries such as North Korea and China, while rolling out a series of reforms aimed—ultimately with limited success—at generating a healthy minimum of inflation and reinvigorating the country’s economy.
別な言い方をすれば、科学的根拠もない慣例や慣習に囚われ、バブルの破綻処理案や抜本改革案を出す訳でもなく、ただ日本経済の停滞と安保環境の悪化、更には中国や北朝鮮の台頭を傍観していたにも関わらず、数値目標達成など真の意味での経済の復活や、悲願であった憲法改正、拉致問題の解決までは漕ぎ着けることが出来なかった。
